ELN Nutritional Guidance
Many people understand that nutrition is vital in
achieving their goals. Either if it losing body fat or putting on muscle, it
depends on what you do in the kitchen. There are many different type of diets
and ideas about nutrition that do and don’t work. My philosophy about nutrition
is;
'Diets are for
short term “success” but lifestyle change is forever.'
There
are possibly four types of people when it comes to nutrition;
1.
The person that knows about nutrition and are able
achieve their goals.
2.
The person that doesn’t know about nutrition so
they are not able to achieve their goals.
3.
The person that 'thinks' they know but will never
are able to achieve their goals.
4.
The person that 'thinks' they know and fail over
and over til they put their preconceived ideas to the side ask for help,
dedicate, education and teach themselves about nutrition.
Diets aren’t sustainable and the 'results' gained
are easily lost. Changing your lifestyle will result in sustainable and
permanent results. This is achieved by incorporating regular exercise and
appropriate nutrition. It is only possible when the person is 100% committed.

ELN Functional Exercise Training
Functional training has its
origins in rehabilitation. Physiotherapists use this approach to rehabilitate
patients with movement disorders. The interventions or exercises are intended
to integrate tasks and specific environment challenges which are meaningful to
the patient. The goal is to return the patient to be functionally independent
or to their pre-injury state. The intervention or exercises simulate
the patients work, home or specific sporting environment. This is highly valued
as a treatment option as it allows the patient to return to their lives, job
and even sport after an injury or surgery.
Do you
have old injury that hasn't gone away and is affecting you day to day? For
example running, cycling, at work, at home or in your workout like shoulder,
knee or back pain? See Functional Exercise Training for help.
ELN Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation
Prevention
of injuries is a continuous science of identifying risk factors, causes,
mechanisms and specific populations at risk. Assessing and analysis of these
risk factors allow a personalised program to be developed help reduce the
likelihood of an injury occurring
Senior Population
As
we are age you begin to have muscle weakness, stability, gait and balance
problems. This is due to the failure to exercise regularly and it is vital to
address these issues to prevent future falls. As a physiotherapist it is vital
to educate, identify possible hazards in and around the home environment and
create a personalised training program to address their needs.
Athletes
Many if not all athletes in their
career will incur at least one injury. There is high possibility these will
reoccur without appropriate rehabilitation intervention. This intervention can
address suitable rehabilitation after the initial injury (acute or chronic),
technique correction, pre-season preparation and identification of
anatomical/physiological weak points.
